NCTCOG engages in long-range transportation planning through its Metropolitan Transportation Plans, the latest of which (Mobility 2050) was adopted in June 2025. Mobility 2050 recommends a specific set of transportation improvements to be implemented between now and 2050.
NCTCOG engages in short-range transportation planning through its Transportation Improvement Program, the latest of which was approved by RTC in March 2026. The 2027-2030 TIP identifies specific transportation projects for funding in FY 2027-2030.
Together, the MTP and TIP form the core of NCTCOG's comprehensive, cooperative, and continuing transportation planning process.
This map displays linear projects from the current TIP (latest available data, including modifications) superimposed on Mobility 2050 roadway project recommendations. All projects included in a Transportation Improvement Program are required to be included in the Metropolitan Transportation Plan. Therefore, an MTP project should underlie all TIP projects depicted in this map. Exceptions could occur due to pending administrative amendments or modifications, project alignment issues, and projects that are currently under construction.

Use this application to compare major roadway recommendations from Mobility 2050 to current TIP roadway project listings. Generally speaking, an MTP project should underlie all depicted TIP projects to reflect the fact that they're recommended by the plan. Exceptions could occur due to pending administrative amendments or modifications, project alignment issues, and projects that are currently under construction.
Use the panel on the left to navigate the application and access more information. Projects can be searched by MTP ID or TIP Code using the search box in the top right corner.
